Five Ramblers Earn All-MIVA Accolades

Fabikovic earns third straight All-MIVA First Team award.

CHICAGO – The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) announced its All-Conference First and Second Teams on Thursday morning, naming five Loyola Chicago men's volleyball players to the squads in the first slate of post-season awards.

Graduate student Josh Schellinger and juniors Daniel Fabikovic and Aidan Klein earned First Team honors while senior Ryan McElligott and freshman Oskar Berg Mikkelsen were named to the Second Team.

Hailing from Bloomingdale, Ill., Schellinger ranks second on the team in kills, averaging 2.92 per set, good for 12th in the league. He's also top 20 in the MIVA in hitting percentage (6th), points (12th) and service aces (19th). The 6-foot-5 outside hitter was named the MIVA Offensive Player of the Week (Feb. 3) after posting a season-high 19 kills against his alma mater UC San Diego. Schellinger recorded Loyola's sole double-double of the season at McKendree (Feb. 6) with 11 kills and a season-high 10 digs.

Fabikovic, a 6-foot-6 outside hitter from the Czech Republic, records his third consecutive All-MIVA First Team honor after leading Loyola offensively with 237 total kills on a 2.82 per set average. He is second on the team in digs (109 total, 1.30/set) and blocks (58.0 total, .69/set), and fourth in aces. The junior captain is top 15 in the league in hitting percentage (13th), points (13th), kills (14th) and blocks (15th). He's one of two Ramblers to start all 25 matches. Earlier this season, Fabikovic recorded a season-high 21 kills in the five-set victory over Stanford (Jan. 17), matched his career-high nine digs against Quincy (Jan. 24) and had a season-high seven blocks vs. Queens (March 14).

Making his first appearance on any all-conference team, Klein had a standout season for the Ramblers. The 6-foot-9 middle blocker paces the MIVA in hitting percentage with a .515 clip and is third in blocks (1.04/set). He also ranks in the league's top 25 in service aces (15th), points (20th) and kills (24th). Klein leads Loyola at the net with 86.0 total blocks, posting a career-high seven against Stanford. The Evanston, Ill. native earned his first-ever MIVA Defensive Player of the Week honor this season. He recorded two matches with a career-high 12 kills and three with four aces, another career high.

McElligott earns his second straight All-MIVA selection and first on the Second Team. The starting setter and captain is a two-time MIVA Offensive Player of the Week in 2026 and Loyola's assists leader, averaging 10.12 per set. Out of Mundelein, Ill., McElligott missed over a month of the season due to injury before returning to post a season-high 47 assists and match his career-high seven blocks against Ohio State (March 1) in his second match back. McElligott is second on the team in service aces and has at least one ace in 12 of 15 matches played, including a career-high five at Hawai'i (Jan. 9).

In his debut collegiate season, Berg Mikkelsen earned a starting position early in the year. The 7-foot-2 Copenhagen native started 12 of 15 matches, seeing action in 42 sets before sitting the remainder of the regular season due to injury. Berg Mikkelsen marked a career-high seven blocks in the victory over Ohio State and a career-high nine kills at Lewis (March 26). He's recorded nine matches with at least four kills on .375 or better hitting, including a perfect 8-for-8 kills at Ball State (March 5).

Loyola claimed the No. 2 seed in the MIVA Tournament and host 7-seeded Purdue Fort Wayne in the quarterfinals on Saturday, April 18 at 6 p.m.
