Post-Game Quotes
Loyola vs. Green Bay
December 6, 2007

Loyola Head Coach Jim Whitesell
Opening statement
"Green Bay got off to a great start, then answered back when we went on some runs. You've got to give them credit. (Terry) Evans made a lot of big baskets there at the end that certainly helped them. (Mike) Schachtner made a lot of free throws, and drew some fouls there. A couple times, we're down four or five and he gets fouled. We didn't do a very good job on the boards on the defensive end. We had times where we had good stops, especially early in the second half, then came down and just didn't take the shots we'd like to have. You've got to fix that."

On the team's effort
"The effort was there to win, no doubt about it. This is a very good basketball team we're playing here. Effort is a common denominator, we need to come out there and execute, draw fouls ourselves, get offensive rebounds, make timely shots, put pressure on them. You've got to give Green Bay credit because they did that to us most of the time."

On the team's offensive struggles
"Offensively we just kind of backed off and we've got to get on the hunt. We certainly had the opportunity to get there, no doubt about that. Part of that is ball movement and execution. Another part is being more aggressive. We've got to get the ball in and out more. Sometimes when you patch one thing then another thing comes up; one time you'll say its turnovers, the next time it could be shots. Early in the game we had four turnovers and we got down seven or eight right off the bat. Then later on, we didn't turn it over and we got back in it. I think it's a little bit of everything there. Sometimes you've just got to make more shots, it's as simple as that. Some shots we made and some we just missed. Green Bay did a good job with keeping the ball live in the offense, and that hurt us. We've been an up-and-down team on the rebounding aspect."

Loyola Junior Guard J.R. Blount
On the team's play
"We've got to play hard and smarter. That's one thing we're not doing. We had a couple shots that were poor shots, myself included. Like coach said, it's something that is easier said than done, but it's something that we can practice hard at and just get back at it."
