How It Happened
Loyola raced out to an early 8-2 lead to open the match, led by a trio of kills and a service ace from Owen McAndrews. The Ramblers never gave up the lead, upping the score behind kills from Nick Olson, Will Tischler, Collin Mahan and Ben Plaisted. Loyola ended set one with 16 total kills, including a combined eight from McAndrews and Tischler.

Charleston managed to stay within a few points of Loyola to open the second set before the Ramblers scored three straight, a Ben Plaisted kill and back-to-back service aces from Jeff Jendryk, to up the score to 16-10. The Ramblers racked up 14 kills in the second set without committing a single error, led by five from Plaisted and three from Olson.
The Rambler defense stepped up in the third set, as Loyola recorded five of its six total blocks in set three. Seven different Ramblers stuffed the ball during the final set, including two block assists apiece from Ryan Jamison, Paul Narup and Jeff Jendryk. The Ramblers held the Golden Eagles to just four kills the entire set, as Charleston posted a -.312 clip. Ryan Jamison led the Ramblers in set three, racking up three kills on three swings.
