ROANNE, FRANCE (August 17, 2022)
In Short
Chorale De Roanne used an 18-2 run in the third quarter to gain separation and pull away for an 80-60 victory over Loyola University Chicago tonight in the Ramblers' second contest in a three-game trip to France.
How It Happened
The Ramblers faced a tough test tonight, going against a Pro A team in the Ligue Nationale de Basket (LNB). A
Sheldon Edwards three-point field goal opened the scoring and the teams played evenly until Roanne went on a 21-7 run that spanned two quarters to seize a 34-20 lead.
But, Loyola refused to succumb to the hosts and ratcheted up its intensity at the defensive end of the floor to get back into the contest. A bucket by
Philip Alston set off a half-closing 18-6 spurt that featured threes from Edwards and
Braden Norris as the Maroon & Gold chopped the deficit all the way down to 40-38 at the half.
Roanne stretched its advantage to seven points (45-38) early in the third quarter before a
Saint Thomas three-pointer and a hoop from
Tom Welch got Loyola back within two points, at 45-43. From there however, Roanne would score 18 of the game's next 20 points to bump its lead to 63-45 and never look back on the way to victory.
Inside the Numbers
- Edwards led the way for Loyola with a team-best 10 points.
