CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (April 21, 2023) – The Ramblers conquered their final regular season meet down at Illinois Friday.
Roisin Treacy's 3,000 steeple and
Blake Buysse's 5k times landed top-five in program history, while nine PRs were clocked.
Treacy exploded for a nine-second personal best time of 11:05.56 in the 3,000 steeple. She placed fourth in her heat to take over the fifth spot on Loyola's top-10 list.
Buysse's two-second PR of 14:15.69 in the 5k also secured fifth on the top-10 list. He won the event by more than 13 seconds.
Chantz Visse (15:01.63) and
Gabe Ryan (15:24.79) wrapped up the 5k action for the Ramblers Friday.
Loyola tipped off the day with 14 finishes in the 1,500. For the women,
Grace Kuhn came out on top clocking 4:32.19. It was a seven-second best and earned her ninth overall in the event.
Mia Dubac made her collegiate debut in the event finishing with a PR of 4:52.72.
Aiden Grasse was the final PR for the women in the event finishing with a time of 4:59.95.
Two Ramblers placed in the meet's top-10 for the men's 1,500.
Gabe Smit was the top Rambler with a four-second PR of 3:46.90. It's the ninth fastest time in program history, and he was for fourth in his heat.
Chris Devaney was on his tails with a time of 3:50.78. It topped his previous best by seven seconds and was seventh in his heat.
Also clocking PRs were
Woody Jerome and
Jack Slaughter. Jerome's time of 3:53.13 was two seconds faster, while Slaughter made his debut posting 4:02.59.
Fionn Harrington placed second in his 1,500 heat with a time of 3:52.54.
Jevan Terry competed in the 200 dash for Loyola. He finished with a time of 22.04 for third in his heat.
In the hurdle events,
Jayla Johnson won her 100 heat with a time of 14.63. The 400 hurdles featured
Erin Connors and
Madi McLain. Connors posted a time of 1:02.65 for second in her heat. McLain capped the run with a time of 1:08.51.
The Ramblers have a couple weeks to prep for the A-10 Championships. Loyola will head to Amherst, Massachusetts May 6-7 before attention turns to the NCAA Regionals.
