SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Loyola University Chicago men's and women's track teams recorded several personal records and top finishes at the Meyo and Chicago Collegiate Invitationals.
On the men's side in South Bend, Cael Mulholland led the way with a win in the open 3,000 meters, setting a personal best of 8:10.84. Eugene Niox-Chateau also posted a personal best in the event, finishing in 8:13.16, which ranks third among French U20 athletes in all-time history. Francesco Benelli ran 8:36.11, Dylan Ybarra 8:53.50, and Trent Anderson 9:07.26.
In the Ryan Shay 3,000 meters, Nate Boutin placed 12th in 8:05.60, while Jake Phillips set a personal record of 8:06.39, the 10th-fastest time in school history. Hayden Healey also recorded a personal best with 8:09.24, and Izak Bibile ran 8:33.40. Yusuf Baig, running unattached, finished in 8:15.96.
In the open mile, James Howell set a personal record with a time of 4:11.43, and Colby Revord placed 13th in 4:08.51. Miguel Abaitua finished 11th in the 800 meters championship in 1:53.04.
The women's team was highlighted by strong performances in both the mile and 3,000 meters. Roisin Treacy ran a personal-best 9:16.96 in the 3,000 meters final, finishing seventh and recording the second-fastest time in program history. In the open 3,000, Pippa Carcas placed seventh with a personal record of 9:48.50, Eileen Seebon was 11th in 9:53.56, Angy Salado Fernandez took 16th in 9:54.87 with a personal best, Sammy Mason placed 18th in 9:57.02, Priscilla Ravera ran a personal-best 10:09.68, Ali Gillooly finished in 10:12.96, and Kayla Schmidt ran 10:53.12.
In the open mile, Maggie Powers set a personal record with a time of 4:52.40, Lindsey Kiehl ran 5:02.19, and Jo Collins posted a personal best of 5:08.19. Leah Klapatauskas ran 2:16.19 in the 800 meters.
On Friday, Woody Jerome led the men in the 5,000 meters, finishing 11th in 14:40.20.
At the Chicago Collegiate Invitational, Loyola runners posted strong performances, highlighted by Natalya Kuchenbuch's second-place finish in the women's 800 meters in 2:19.80.
In the women's mile, Frances Perry set a personal best of 5:12.79 to place sixth, while Mackenzie Armstrong and McKenzie Willard also recorded personal bests of 5:16.25 and 5:17.11, finishing 10th and 11th, respectively.
On the men's side, Kyle Knutson led Loyola in the 3,000 meters with a seventh-place time of 8:55.72.
