WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Atlantic 10 named freshman
Anna Kiel Pitcher of the Week, marking her second straight weekly honor this season after earning Co-Rookie of the Week last Monday.
Kiel, out of South Elgin, Ill., helped the Ramblers clinch their first-ever A-10 Regular Season Championship after a 2-1 weekend at George Mason. The southpaw went 1-0 with a 0.81 ERA, pitching 8.2 innings and giving up just one earned run on eight hits while striking out eight batters, including a career-high five in game two.
At the plate, Kiel recorded a double and one run, and drew two walks against the Patriots' pitching. Her weekly award marks the second of her career and fifth overall for the Ramblers this year.
Loyola hosts Fordham in the final series of the regular season on Saturday, May 2 and Sunday, May 3.
