CHARLESTON - The Loyola University Chicago softball team kicked off day two of the Holy City Showdown with a 3-2 win over host College of Charleston. The Ramblers scored early, knocking in three runs in the first three innings to ultimately win the game behind RBI from Ashley Parenti, Katy LaCivita and Jessica Balzano. Ashley Rogers picks up the win for the Ramblers after giving up two runs on three hits in just over five innings pitched.
Loyola struck early, as Brie Pasquale led off the first inning with a single before advancing to third on a Brooke Wyderski double. Ashley Parenti then stepped up to the plate, flying out to deep left field to bring home Parenti and give the Ramblers an early 1-0 lead.
The Ramblers scored again in the third, as Pasquale opened the inning by reaching base on an error before Jamie O'Brien singled to advance her to second. Katy LaCivita and Jessica Balzano then hit back-to-back RBI singles to increase the Rambler lead to 3-0.
The Cougars got on the board in the bottom of the fourth after a triple led to a two-out RBI double. College of Charleston struck again in the bottom sixth, as a hit batter brought in a run, but the Ramblers held on to win the game, 3-2.
