COLUMBIA, Mo. – Loyola Chicago's cross country teams turned in solid performances against elite national competition at the Missouri Pre-National Invitational on Friday at the Gans Creek Cross Country Course. The No. 30 Rambler men placed fifth overall in the 8k, led by a top-10 finish from William Sinclair.
Sinclair shaved two seconds off his Lakefront Invitational time, clocking 23:22.6 to take 10th overall. Jake Phillips crossed next in 31st at 23:54.4, followed closely by Jason Clayton (48th, 24:04.3) and Yusuf Baig (49th, 24:05.1). Hayden Healey completed Loyola's scoring lineup in 59th with a 24:14.7 effort as the Ramblers finished fifth in a deep field featuring several nationally ranked programs, highlighted by a win over No. 22 Arkansas.
Nate Boutin (24:26.3) and Rodolfo Sanchez (24:31.5) provided key depth, while Cael Mulholland (24:37.5), Izak Bibile (24:58.3), Colby Revord (25:09.4) and Woody Jerome (25:47.6) rounded out the lineup.
On the women's side, Roisin Treacy paced Loyola with a 29th-place finish, clocking a new PR of 20:18.2 over the 6k course. Bárbara Neiva added another PR at 21:03.7, followed by Bethany Graham (21:34.8), Eileen Seebon (21:35.0) and Angy Salado Fernandez (21:41.3) to complete the scoring five.
Maggie Powers (22:31.4), Kayla Schmidt (22:42.0) and Priscilla Ravera (22:49.9) also contributed solid efforts for the Ramblers in the competitive field.
The Ramblers are next in action Nov. 1 at the Atlantic 10 Championships in Dayton, Ohio.
