INDIANAPOLIS — Loyola University Chicago's men's and women's track teams opened the 2026 indoor season Friday at the Hoosier Horsepower Classic, hosted at the Indiana Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion.
The Ramblers turned in a strong opening meet highlighted by a win in the men's 3,000 meters and multiple top-10 finishes on the women's side.
On the men's side, Jake Phillips captured first place overall in the 3K, crossing the line in 8:12.57 to lead the field. Cael Mulholland followed with a sixth-place finish in 8:22.28, while Hayden Healey placed seventh in 8:31.30. Trent Anderson finished ninth in his heat with a time of 8:55.39, and Kyle Knutson took seventh in his heat in 9:07.13.
The Loyola women posted a deep showing in the 3K, placing five runners in the top 10 overall. Eileen Seebon led the way with a third-place finish in 9:56.02, closely followed by Pippa Carcas in fourth at 9:56.66. Maggie Powers recorded a personal best of 10:00.88 to place sixth, while Angy Salado Fernandez took eighth in 10:01.27 and Ali Gillooly finished 10th in 10:03.38. Sammy Mason ran 10:26.59 to finish 15th in her heat, Priscilla Ravera placed fifth in her heat with a time of 10:27.03 and Kayla Schmidt finished 16th in her heat in 10:51.27.
In the women's distance medley relay, the quartet of Leah Klapatauskas, Natalya Kuchenbuch, Jo Collins and Lindsey Kiehl combined for a second-place finish, clocking a time of 12:19.15.
